Laser Vision Correction

Most laser vision correction, or refractive surgery, works by changing the shape of the cornea, the transparent layer that covers the outer surface of the eye.

Eye surgeons at the Green Bay Eye Clinic currently offer the following types of refractive surgery and vision correction:

  • Blade-Free Custom LASIK
  • Photo-Refractive Keratectomy (PRK)
  • Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
  • NearVision CK
  • Visian ICL
  • Paragon CRT

100% Blade Free LASIK

Using IntraLase technology, your BayCare Clinic eye surgeon can perform your laser eye surgery without any knives or blades.  Every LASIK procedure begins by creating a corneal flap.  This involves temporarily folding back a small portion of the cornea's top layer so that a laser can access and reshape the middle section of the cornea, or the corneal stroma. Once treatment is complete, the flap is folded back and locks naturally into place.

Traditionally, this flap was created using a handheld device with a metal blade.  Now IntraLase eliminates the need for a blade, replacing it with a silent, computer guided laser.  The process is painless and only takes about 30 seconds.

IntraLase technology provides superior accuracy.  Patients who were previously ineligible for LASIK may now be good candidates for treatment.

Better Technology

The Green Bay Eye Clinic offers its patients the best technology available.  We were the first to offer Custom LASIK in the region, and we utilize the most advanced LASIK laser technology - the Allegretto Wave laser.  The Allegretto Wave Eye-Q is premium laser vision correction technology that minimizes problems associated with older generation lasers - problems like night vision reduction, glare, and halos.

LASIK systems correct vision problems by using a beam of laser energy to reshape the cornea.  Earlier LASIK technology worked well when focused on the very center of the cornea.  But when the laser beam was angled to reach the sides of the cornea, the power was weakened, providing 20% less treatment around the periphery.  The aberration that this type of treatment caused resulted in visual side effects, loss of quality of vision and reduced vision at night, when the pupil enlarges.

The Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser automatically compensates for the curvature of the cornea, providing a full, custom LASIK treatment that older lasers just can't achieve.  In addition, the Wave Eye-Q incorporates wavefront technology into its treatments. This technology can treat even the tiniest flaws in the cornea, improving the overall quality of vision.  This highly effective treatment combination sharpens vision and reduces the chance of glare and halos after surgery, providing patients with the best overall vision.

Physician Care

All laser vision correction is not the same.  When choosing your laser eye surgery provider, look at surgeon experience, lasers, diagnostic technology, and follow-up care.  All of these factors affect the success of your vision correction procedure.

We have invested in some of the most advanced laser and diagnostic technology available.  And at Green Bay Eye Clinic, our surgeons provide patient care throughout the entire process, from initial examination to surgery and follow-up care.

Laser eye surgery is not a one-size-fits-all procedure.  We offer many vision correction options - that means we have more options to match you with the procedure that's best for your eyes.
