Brain Surgery
Brain surgery can only be performed by a
neurosurgeon. At BayCare Clinic, all of our
neurosurgeons have undergone extensive training in brain
surgery. We have the area's only group of all board certified
neurosurgeons. We perform hundreds of brain operations each
year, providing neurosurgical care at three of Green Bay's
hospitals (including Aurora BayCare Medical Center) as well as at
other medical centers throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Upper
Michigan.
Surgical Pioneers
We know that brain surgery can be frightening, and so
is the condition requiring surgery. We will do
everything we can to answer your questions and make sure you are
comfortable with the treatment plan.
If you need brain surgery, you can be confident you will receive
superior care at BayCare Clinic. Our neurosurgeons remain at
the forefront of medical advancements. We perform the
high-tech, leading edge brain surgery procedures you'd expect from
world-class neurological surgery centers.
We pioneered the use of vagal nerve stimulation for the
treatment of depression and were the first in the region to offer
deep brain stimulation for tremors and Parkinson's disease.
We were also the first in the region to utilize a craniotomy for
epilepsy treatment.
Our experts have experience in the following:
- Deep brain stimulation
- Epilepsy surgery
- Image guided brain surgery
- Stereotactic radiosurgery
- Shunting for hydrocephalus
- Resection of brain tumors and vascular abnormalities in the
brain
- Intracranial chemotherapy and intracranial radiation for
malignant tumors
- Endoscopic procedures
- Image-guided, frameless surgical procedures
Our neurosurgeons use a team approach to brain surgery, working
closely with specialists in pain management, physical
medicine, interventional neuroradiology,
neurology, and neuropsychology.
